4X PGA TOUR CHAMPION OPENS UP ABOUT A LIFESTYLE SHIFT THAT’S MAKING A NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE

A simple change is making a big difference for Sepp Straka. The PGA Tour champion credits a new diet for his sustained energy on the course. His current performance at THE PLAYERS Championship suggests it’s working.

During the press conference at THE PLAYERS Championship on Friday, Sepp Straka spoke about changes he has made to his eating habits and how those adjustments have helped him stay energized on the course.

“I eat more on the golf course now than I used to. I definitely think it’s important to stay energized.”

During an event, a golfer often ends up walking over 5 miles over 4-5 hours under the scorching heat. If you don’t have the right level of nutrition, focusing on every shot becomes a problem. Dehydration or low blood glucose can lead to just that on the back-9. That’s why we see snacks like trail mix with nuts, peanut butter, and banana sandwiches, beef jerky, apple slices, and hydration drinks in golfers’ bags.

At the same time, he noted that his diet away from the course has also changed over the past year.

“Outside of that, I’ve definitely cleaned up my eating a little bit over the last year. That had more to do with general health than it did my golf game. But definitely see a little more energy day-to-day. I definitely think it makes a big difference.”

While Straka didn’t go into depth about his eating habits, a good routine to follow before a round is to eat a carb-rich breakfast, adding healthy fats to the diet.

As he spoke about these changes, Straka was also putting together a solid performance at THE PLAYERS Championship.

Sepp Straka Stays in Contention at THE PLAYERS Championship 2026

At The Players Championship 2026, Sepp Straka sits in sixth place at 7-under par after two rounds at TPC Sawgrass. His opening round of 67 placed him in a share of the first-round lead.

The 32-year-old began the tournament with a bogey-free 5-under round that included a 50-foot chip-in for eagle on the par-5 16th. Despite missing several fairways, he relied on short-game play and putting to save par multiple times.

He followed that with a 2-under 70 in the second round. The round included a birdie putt on the par-3 13th and another birdie on the par-5 16th, keeping him within reach of the lead.

Through 36 holes, Straka has recorded one eagle, six birdies, and one bogey. He has hit 60.7% of fairways and 58.3% of greens in regulation while ranking fourth in the field in strokes gained around the green.

The tournament is currently led by Ludvig Åberg at 12-under par as the event moves into the weekend.
